Will it be the end of OnlyFans?

OnlyFans is a content-sharing platform, based in London. Founded by Timothy Stokely, it is a website only with no official apps. Creators can use it to offer videos, photos, and even chances to chat one-on-one for a price. It is popular in the adult entertainment industry. The New York Times even ran a story in early 2019 that claimed OnlyFans had changed the adult entertainment industry work forever. But it won’t be known for that for long.

The company indicated that content creators will be able to continue posting photos with adult content and videos as long as they comply with the new policies.

The OnlyFans platform wants to get out of the business of the adult entertainment industry (videos or photos), since it reported that as of October it will ban the publications of its users where any explicit conduct is observed

The company said Thursday that the content creators of its platform will be able to continue posting photos and videos, as long as they comply with the OnlyFans policy

The policy changes, OnlyFans added, are under increasing pressure from banking partners and payment providers.

“To ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,” said the company.

UK-based OnlyFans has amassed a user base of over 130 million users in large part from its subscription fan pages geared towards adult content, videos, and photos.

However, according to the BBC, the site’s moderation hasn’t been up to that standard. It reports that a “compliance manual” instructed employees to give users three strikes, even if the content that was being removed was illegal. The BBC also reports that more successful accounts, which had a larger subscriber base, were handled by a separate team and given additional warnings when they broke the site’s rules.
