Whip to austerity! Mexican Government buys baseball stadiums in thousand 57 million pesos

The expenditure per thousand 57 million pesos per stadium is close to the thousand 718 million pesos of the annual budget of the Conade. The Government of Mexico must pay an amount of one thousand 57 million pesos for the purchase of two baseball stadiums, money that is close to the annual budget of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Conade). According to Animal Politico, the federal government converted last May the process of buying the baseball stadiums “Héctor Espino”, in Hermosillo and “Tomás Oroz Gaytán”, in Ciudad Obregón, but both cases will become sports academies. According to information from the Executive Coordination of Assets and Concessions of the Sonora government, the “Héctor Espino” stadium has a value of 475 million 24 thousand pesos, while the “Tomás Oroz Gaytán” stadium was valued at 582 million 302 thousand pesos.

This Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador revealed that the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit authorized the construction of the “Héctor Espino” stadium in Hermosillo, and the rehabilitation of the “Tomás Oroz” in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora. The Treasury will release the funds, aided by the National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras).

“Van a ser escuelas, son proyectos para entretenimiento, porque los estadios están muy bien ubicados, se van a construir instalaciones, se va a llevar a cabo un buen proyecto en cada uno de ellos”, detalló.

Añadió que la iniciativa privada edificará hoteles y centros comerciales, tomando en cuenta al estadio como centro para apoyar en la promoción.

He added that the private initiative will build hotels and shopping centers, taking into account the stadium as a center to support the promotion.
