FACEBOOK appears to be down and not working as hundreds of users have reported they are unable to log in to the social network.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector is still registering hundreds of reports from users claiming they are unable to access the social media site as normal.
Some users have declared they are now able to access the site itself, but posts from other users and accounts are still not loading.
Facebook is currently down for many users.
Users in the U.S. and Europe began reporting that Facebook has been inaccessible since at least 8:15 a.m. ET.
UPDATE ONE: As of 1.45pm this afternoon, Facebook still appears to be down.
UPDATE TWO: Facebook users are claiming they are now able to sign-in to the site, but they are still unable to comment or post. A number of users have insisted they are facing the same issues with their feed.
One said: “Site works NOW but won’t load posts. Before the website won’t load.”
Another posted: “Back on but can not comment or post.
A third stated: “Not working won’t let me post in Glasgow.”
UPDATE THREE: As of 3pm some Facebook users are still reporting the social network is experiencing issues.
Down Detector is still registering over 300 reports from users insisting Facebook is not working as it should be.
Facebook has confirmed the outage on its developer site. “We are investigating the issue and working on a resolution,” a Facebook spokesperson wrote in a message on the site.
#FacebookDown is currently the top trending topic on Twitter as users flock to the site to report on the Facebook outage.
Users are also reporting that Instagram is also down. #InstagramDown is also trending on Twitter.
Most users who are experiencing the Facebook outage report seeing an error message stating “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” a Facebook spokesperson tells Mashable in a statement.
According to DownDetector, while the vast majority of users experiencing the outage located in the states and across Europe, users in South America and Asia are also experiencing downtime.
UPDATE FOUR: Nov. 20, 2018, 7 p.m. ET: “Earlier today, a server configuration caused intermittent problems across all apps globally, creating a degraded experience for users,” Facebook told Mashable in a statement. “The issue has since been resolved, we are back to 100% for everyone, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
