Far Cry 6 is one of the most anticipated Ubisoft video games of this year. It is an action, adventure, and open world game set on the island of Yara, a fictional version of Cuba. In this new release, the players embody the leader of a revolutionary guerrilla movement that aims to overthrow the dictatorial government of Antón Castillo.
On Friday, May 28, Ubisoft published the first gameplay of the game in a digital presentation with the narrative director of the game, Navid Khavari, who took the opportunity to announce the official launch date of the title. Far Cry 6 will arrive on October 7 to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Google Stadia and PC.
Far Cry 6 stays true to its open world action game formula
Like the previous release of the franchise, Far Cry 6 is characterized by having a large open world full of details in which the player can move freely to carry out main missions, secondary challenges and liberate enemy camps. According to Navid Khavari, in this case they have been very inspired by guerrilla tactics to design the action of the game.
Far Cry 6 is set in a fictional version of Cuba, in which a few years ago Antón Castillo managed to come to power thanks to an armed revolution. Since then, the island of Yara has been disconnected from the rest of the world and the dictator has led the country to ruin. The protagonist of the adventure is Dani Rojas, a revolutionary who will join the guerrillas to overthrow the tyrant government. Despite all this premise, from Ubisoft they maintain that Far Cry 6 does not pretend to have any political message.
As seen in the first gameplay, this new release recovers many elements from other games in the franchise. The action and gunfights are somewhere between realism and madness, with weapons as strange as a Macarena disc launcher and a backpack that fires rockets like an anti-aircraft.
Another of the recurring tropes of Far Cry is the charismatic villain, who in this case is embodied in the figure of an Antón Castillo played by actor Giancarlo Esposito. As for the protagonist, he will be fully customizable by users and will have more presence in the cinematics.
Far Cry 6 is an intergenerational video game, and this means that it must work both on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
In this new release you can expect graphical and playable improvements in line with what was seen in previous Far Cry, but surely it will not revolutionize the formula.
